Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new affixes. They can also improve the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as the Titans of eth have little change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to choose it and click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the necessary material or component needed for the upgrade to take place.
There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding an Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from previous versions in some fundamental ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded as many times before it is "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of those items, instead of dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
If an item is leveled out and is leveled out, it will be capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It resets at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it is able to get the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have no more than two affixes for it and legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade step requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials but will have a lower chance of success.
To determine the height of a structure engineers use a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level before turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with a high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can significantly enhance an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. This can be accomplished through the item menu or pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.
Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
In the past, some upgrade item s had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This could be a positive or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could come with a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher your chance of getting a unique bonus.
The game also features various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on a unit. This is a good way to give a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling is a way to get a more powerful character faster, allowing players to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can be different dimensions, have no elements, or only have a single element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides a wide range of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.
Certain set items are upgraded to meet their unique procs, which can be particularly useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).
Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to the level of the levels. For example the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements of specific items.
In general, armor and weapons are more valuable when fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has an updated look.
